Introducing

TBFYND

Tuberculosis (TB) is a highly contagious air-borne infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Every year more than 10 million cases are reported globally. In India, about 19 lakh cases and about 40000 deaths were reported in 2023. Therefore, early identification of TB is crucial for controlling the spread of the disease.

TBFYND is a rapid, reliable, ready-to-use point-of-care testing kit for TB detection. It is based on Loop mediated Isothermal Amplification (LAMP), which does not require any high-end equipment or any extensive lab setup and the test can be performed anywhere. TBFYND is a simple colorimetric assay with 97.63% accuracy, 98.73% sensitivity, and 100% specificity, approved by CDSCO.

Current gap in TB testing method at block/village level

Low Sensitivity:
Many potential TB cases are undetected.
Average Positivity:
12-15%, with only 4.5% diagnosed as TB.
Conventional Methods:
  • Low sensitivity and long test times
  • Traditional techniques give higher rate of false negative results
  • Require extensive lab setup and skilled labor
  • High CAPEX cost
  • Limited to district-level penetration
Effective Results:

Sensitivity: 98.73%

Specificity: 100%

Test Time: <60 minutes

TAT: Same day

Detection Mechanism: Colorimetric

Point of Care: Yes

Country of Origin: India

Tested on over 10,000 patients in Southern India

Science Behind TBFYND

LAMP technology: Loop-mediated isothermal Amplification is a one-step nucleic acid amplification method performed at a constant temperature of about 65 degrees Celsius, and does not require a PCR/thermocycler.

TBFYND eliminates the need for high-end infrastructure, enabling visual interpretation of results within 40-60 minutes.
Approved by WHO (World Health Organization).
LAMP Benefits:
High accuracy, specificity, and sensitivity with same-day results
Requires semi-lab setup and semi-skilled labor
Affordable, offering great value for money

The TBFYND test offers rapid TB diagnosis within 60 minutes, significantly faster than traditional methods, which take 24-72 hours. Its ability to decentralize TB testing to remote areas increases accessibility, while its cost-effectiveness makes it an ideal choice for large-scale government health initiatives. These benefits enable quicker treatment and better control of TB spread.
For private healthcare providers, It improves efficiency with a quick turnaround time, allowing for faster patient management. The low setup cost and minimal need for specialized staff reduce operational expenses, while its scalability makes it easy to implement across multiple locations, from urban clinics to rural health centers. providing a competitive advantage in the healthcare market.
TBFYND can be instrumental in the government’s TB eradication strategy by facilitating early detection, which leads to timely treatment and reduces transmission. Its portability and ease of use allow for mass testing campaigns, particularly in high-burden and hard-to-reach areas. Can also be integrated into national TB surveillance systems, helping to track and respond to outbreaks effectively.
Setting up a TBFYND testing unit requires basic lab space to maintain the necessary incubation temperature. The required equipment includes a heat block, water bath, or dry bath to maintain the LAMP reaction at 65°C, along with storage space for the TBFYND kits. The setup is minimal, making it easy to establish in various locations.
Conducting the TBFYND test does not require highly specialized personnel. Semi-skilled technicians with basic training in handling samples and performing simple lab procedures can carry out the test. Additionally, community health workers, with minimal training, can conduct the tests in field settings, making it accessible to a wide range of healthcare workers.
The TBFYND test provides results in less than 60 minutes. The entire process, from sputum collection to result interpretation, is completed within an hour, making it a rapid and efficient diagnostic tool for TB.
TBFYND kits can be ordered directly from the manufacturer or authorized distributors. For large-scale orders, government agencies or healthcare institutions can contact the manufacturer directly for bulk purchasing. This flexibility in ordering ensures that TBFYND kits are accessible to various healthcare providers.
